Recovering from a major illness and being a single mum of two young children, Lindsey Levison wanted to find a job with flexibility to fit in with her family life. She knew she could to use the knowledge and experience she had from working in the hair industry to start her own business and contacted NBSL in Blyth to learn more about becoming self employed.
Lindsey had very little previous experience of working for herself, but she had a sound business vision and wanted to commence trading as a mobile hairdresser as soon as she could. Through NBSL’s Enterprise Bridge Programme, Lindsey was offered free one-to-one business advice sessions with Shak Ahmed, a locally based Business Adviser, to discuss business concepts, ideas and needs to turn them into an achievable business vision. Lindsey gained detailed assistance in conducting market research, with the whole business planning process and to apply for start-up funding. After just a short period of time, Lindsey was confident enough to start up on her own and Linzi’s Locks (telephone 07958 313563) was launched.
Lindsey said, “I couldn’t have done it on my own. The help I received from NBSL, especially from Shak, was great. He took the time to explain everything to me and he helped me to learn at my own pace. I would definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to start up on their own.” |
