A fixed term position has now become available to assist in the administration of our North East Business Support Programme (or new ERDF projects that are awarded to NBSL).  The fund, which is specifically aimed at small and medium sized enterprises (SME’s) across the region, is managed by NBSL and is funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014 - 2020 (Enhancing the Competitiveness of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises).

It provides grants towards business improvement or growth projects.  These may include specialist advice and assistance with business growth planning or developing specific core areas of the business – marketing, processes, finance, products or people.

The post holder will be responsible for working with other team members in the delivery of a wide-ranging administrative support services incorporating the following duties:

  • Provide a wide variety of compliance, project and administrative support to the NEBS project staff, ensuring that all appropriate documentation is obtained and accurately processed in accordance to funding requirements to enable timely monitoring of financial performance against projections and to maximise eligible project spend.
  • Ensure that all ERDF Eligibility criteria are adhered to, including state aid, publicity and procurement requirements.
  • Ensure all NEBS expenditure invoices are authorised by relevant signatories and are logged on financial claim tracking spreadsheets.  Maintain spreadsheets, as the basis of claims, and ensure accurate input of data is supported by valid evidence and defrayal information where relevant.

Thus we are currently looking for an individual who meets the person specification outlined below.

Essential Person Specification

  • Highly numerate with the ability to work to financial budgets.
  • Highly accurate with an attention to detail.
  • A working knowledge of ERDF and other types of funding and individual project guidance, eligibility and legislative criteria.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Demonstration of effective organisational skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
  • Highly competent in all Microsoft Office Applications particularly Excel.
  • Working knowledge of databases/client-tracking systems.
  • Holder of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience of working within quality assurance frameworks.

Salary £18,175 per annum, Fixed Term to 30 June 2023 (subject to funding), 37 hours per week

Please note: The postholder would normally be based full time at our office in Ashington but due to the current situation, we have restrictions on the number and location of staff allowed in the office at any one time.  We anticipate this post will involve a mixture of working from our premises in Ashington plus some homeworking.
