Spatial Synergy wanted to develop their marketing and social media strategy to win new business - this is how we helped.

Spatial Synergy was started in 2010 by David Marshall. Based in Sunderland, the company specialises in an environmentally aware, low carbon approach to transportation planning for organizations. Clientele include organizations in the public, private and voluntary sector that require assistance in transportation planning as well as consultation.

Spatial Synergy operate within the UK, typically in the North East although a commission from a client in Lancashire has been recently established.

Type of Support

NBSL helped the company to develop a marketing plan based on their existing idea. They also provided them with an extensive list of contacts, as well as an introductory training course in social media marketing, using Facebook and Twitter as business tools to strategically prioritise contact lists.

A source of funding was provided by NBSL to assist in the fee charged by another business consultant based in Middlesbrough that were already helping them.

The key purpose for receiving this support

To take the company as it was, then develop a marketing plan and introduce simple measures to improve business strategy and aims. Also in introducing social media as a business tool and networking device.

How the Business has benefited

Because of a consistent list of well established contacts as a direct result of the networking provided by NBSL, a commission in Lancashire from a college has been granted. Further work in Newcastle has been obtained, working with arts organisations. A "greater sense of focus" is the result of David's consultations with NBSL, along with a better developed strategy provided by them.

Future Plans

Spatial Synergy are more aware of the need for a business to business focus as much as a business to community focus. They now understand how concentrating on those two areas will be of benefit to everyone.
