CD Heritage designs and produces a comprehensive range of high quality gifts for the British Heritage market with a major client being the National Trust. Based in Whitley Bay they work closely with artists and client owned imagery to produce products that are specific to either an individual property or to be retailed across a range of sites such as the National Trust's very successful WW1 commemorative product range.

Business Need

The business needed to develop selling opportunities outside of the North East but without increasing operational costs in terms of travel and time away from the main office.

Solution

With financial assistance from the North East Business Support Fund the website was created with the input of a number of service providers in key sections to outline the process itself and show examples of the product range. The creation of the dedicated website now informs prospective clients of the product development process, from artwork design through to the finished product range, by showing actual examples from across the country.

Impact

CD Heritage's Garry Dawson is delighted "Sales have substantially increased whilst operational costs have been kept under control and I'm confident that we'll achieve a significant increase in turnover by April 2015 which is a target milestone for the business. 2014 has been a tremendous year so far. The website went live at the end of April and this summer we've added major rites such as Sissinghurst Castle in Kent, Winston Churchill's house at Chartwell and the Roman Villa at Chedworth in Gloucestershire to name but a few. We've also been asked to produce 3 multi site product ranges and been tasked with developing a new product sector for the National Trust based on their huge art collection. A test market is being developed for Petworth House in Sussex based on paintings by Holbein and Hieronymus Bosch." Garry also recommends the North East Business Support Fund to others "The funding process was very straightforward and did not impact on the time needed to develop the business. The advisers were excellent and the whole process went smoothly from start to finish."
