With over 100 businesses supported on NBSL’s first season of its latest programme, Better Business Skills, planning has now started for a second season with places already being booked for September.

The fully funded Autumn programme, in partnership with the North of Tyne Combined Authority, will provide a tailored plan for individuals and businesses that need guidance and support to re-invigorate their business skills and refresh their service ethos.

“The uptake of these interactive workshop sessions and feedback received - thanks to the tailored delivery method - has been incredible”, says David Jackson, Skills Manager at NBSL. “Coupled with our peer support, these sessions made sure that businesses invested their time wisely, carefully improving and adapting their skills to our new business landscape.  Customers and the landscape has changed very quickly over the past 12 months and there is a huge opportunity to innovate and update working practices through the invigorating and refreshing business skills”.

“The synergy between our skills and enterprise initiatives working alongside the North East Business Support Fund grant programme has allowed us to provide an integrated business support package at a crucial time for organisations allowing us to help build confidence back into business” added David.

One recent attendee, Claire Barber, owner of the Weaselry, based in Warkworth in Northumberland confirmed this confidence boost. “I was bumbling along trying different things but not really getting anywhere with conviction.  NBSL and this programme changed that.  I am a business owner and NBSL have been instrumental in me achieving that mindset.  The biggest gain for me (and there have been many!) is the confidence I now have in my products and the whole concept of what I do.”

Better Business Skills is an initiative aimed at residents and businesses living and working in Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland and has been developed in response to the challenging and ever-changing economic landscape currently faced by businesses of all shapes and sizes.

With registrations already being taken for the Autumn programme, NBSL are advising to register interest early to avoid disappointment.  More information on how to secure your place, log onto www.nbsl.org.uk/better-business-skills
